Why Leez Priory Is The Wedding Venue For You
I first came across the stunning Leez Priory as the best man at my brother’s wedding and I was blown away with its beauty. A couple of years down the line, I was fortunate enough to shoot a winter wedding there. Leez Priory is truly unique, with stunning grounds rooted in so much heritage. So as you can imagine, I was super excited to have the opportunity to shoot there.
Firstly, Sue the venue’s wedding manager is a complete delight to work with. She was very approachable and a joy to speak to. I could tell the couple really appreciated this and I as the photographer certainly did too. This really is a huge help when choosing your wedding venue as the more support you have on your day, the more you can relax and enjoy yourselves.
Emma from Leez Priory summarises this venue perfectly:
Leez Priory, our beautiful Essex Tudor Manor, is one of the best-loved wedding venues in the UK. It is admired for its unrivaled stately elegance and welcoming feel. Leez Priory offers you the exclusive use of a charming carriageway, the great tower, two reception rooms, a bar, and a characterful cellar disco. You will also have seven beautiful ceremony options available to you, including three outdoor options that will take your breath away. Surrounded by lush greenery, Leez Priory’s gardens are home to woodland, parkland, two beautiful lakes, and a brook. All of which are ideal for outdoor weddings and memorable post-ceremony snapshots. Leez also provides a resident wedding planner, all-inclusive wedding packages, and exclusive use of the estate.
The History of Leez Priory
- It was first found in 1220 by Sir Ralph Gernon for the Augustinian priests, who enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the site for over 300 years.
- Leez Priory in 1995 became the first UK country house to be licensed to hold civil ceremonies
- 2019 it becomes one of the ‘highly commended’ in one of the most prestigious awards in the UK (The British Wedding Awards).

Below is just a selection from the recent wedding at Leez Priory. It was an absolute pleasure to document Carrianne and Tim’s wedding, a really lovely couple who were down for some gorgeous portraits despite the cold weather.
So there you have it, a truly stunning wedding venue in Essex. I can only imagine how beautiful an outdoor ceremony would be there in the summer too, I hope I have this opportunity again one day soon.
